Very nice color, bokeh, detail, and clarity. I used Minolta Maxxum equipment for almost ten years before going digital and am reminded of the great results I would get with their lenses. From 28 to 400mm Minolta has many under respected optics.

Very nice detail, your lens seems incredibly sharp.
I can't tell yet if it's as sharp or maybe even sharper than my 85G prime, although that lens is something special. I am so far very impressed with the 70-200 and I'm sure it's money well spent. In fact, it's so nice that i would make it my primary lens if it weren't so heavy. The 85 is just so nice for portraits that I'm not ready to give it up yet. (Plus, the new zoom won't do f1.4. )

I do believe that a lot of people who have used the top-of-the-line Minolta lenses have stated their love for the glass, too. I guess they were so late coming to the DSLR party that a lot of Minolta shooters just got tired of waiting and switched brands.

I had all Minolta prime lenses and was very happy with their performance. But, I shoot mostly landscapes and need/want more than the 6MP's the 7D has. I was really hoping for a 9D in the near future but it wasn't happening. I finally got tired of waiting and decided to retire all my film cameras (except the Minolta CLE) and go digital. Now I'm in the midst of going back to mostly all prime lenses with it, but not so satisfied with the Canon prime lens options.

More photos please. I love the look this lens produces. Would be nice to see the 85G too.
I'll try to get some good stuff during the next week while I'm on vacation. I'll be sure to share something that really exemplifies what this lens can do.
The pictures of the lens on the 9000 body were taken with the 85G. You haven't seen sharp until you've seen what THAT lens can do!
I can't say much about other Minolta lenses, but IMHO, I think the Minolta 70-200 2.8 G is one of the best if not THE best 70-200/80-200 f2.8 lenses out there (for 35mm system).
That is not to say that I don't like the Nikon 70-200 VR that I own, but I think each of those lenses gives a different taste in the pictures that they produce and I sure like the Minolta a lot.

thanks for the info. I cant afford a G yet, but I found a good deal on a sigma ex 105 macro. Think I'll stick with km it just feels good in my hands.
Even that Sigma lens on the KM body will get the benefits of the Anti-shake. Makes that "good deal" even better!

We should make this a Minolta (g) thread
I was thinking of exactly that. I might start a thread devoted to Minolta cameras and lenses when I get back from vacation. I'd like to see how many other KM shooters there are and how many would be willing to share their opinions of KM gear.
Since we can't expect a dedicated forum for Minolta-mount equipment, we might as well make our own!
I've posted a few images taken over the last few days while on vacation. Probably not the best processing (my iBook instead of the Power Mac at home) but I'm happy with the way they look. Only one of the pictures was not taken with the 70-200, the rest were shot with the new glass.
