My rant was aimed more at just how bad a film this was.

Forgot about AI and Minority Report. I'm not sure if Spielberg is obsessed with bleach bypass or his cinematographer (Kaminsky I think his name is.) But it's getting overplayed. I like his old style better. A lot of directors try to copy it but if you see enough Spielberg movies you can see a shot and immediately know it's him.
He's experimented a lot since Schindler's List, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but a movie like War of the Worlds is supposed to be mindless entertainment and the old Spielberg style would suit it better.
Thanks, writers were creditied as 'screenplay' and I didn't know anything of the original. So that means only one in the top ten is an original screenplay. Must make getting nominated for an Oscar pretty easy. All you have to do is make a good movie and your nominated. Not much competition. Not sure if M Night's new one will be an original or adapted since its based on a story he wrote for his kids. I think its original since the story wasn't puplished elsewhere. Not sure exactly what it takes for a screenplay to be considered original vs adapted.
