Hi Larry! Just curious, which images specifically do you think look like they were shot through a Coke bottle?
As to Bokeh, IMO it is such a subjective quality to begin with that it is tough to get agreement. However in general I would agree that the earlier images are not the best exemplars of Bokeh, but then zooms and hyper-wides are not your typical go-to lenses for Bokeh to begin with

I knew a pro who worked for NASA in it's heyday--days of the big moon shots through the early shuttle launches. They would have sets of custom built Nikons and Hasselblads to record technical launch details. Because of the extreme temps on the launch pad, some of the cameras would be ruined after each launch. I remember he told me one of the 'blad rigs cost around $20,000 in 1968 dollars....

I am sure the guys at leica would like to know what are coke bottles lenses.
Larry like any image that i would put up for public display is simply this , none that i care that can get ripped off. You will never or very rarely see a client image up here. I have to protect my copyright and my clients rights , on a open forum like this with thousands looking at it , i simply have no guarntee any of that and also can be sued big time from my clients which some of them are in business that deals with national security issues. People forget that I run a business first and anything here that i post is a gift of sharing with the community. This is NOT a bokeh test at all , where ever that whole idea came from is beyond me . i was planning a bokeh test today but this is simply making sure the camera works with the HUGE investment i have in my glass. This camera is not dead but very much alive , if the mirror mod was not done , i would have 3 lenses that worked and 5 that did not. Now all 8 work and any other lens that i may get in leica or canon for that matter, This is a success by a long shot , please explain the failure in that. I custom amde a camera that works for my needs. Every pro and hobbyist in the world builds a kit that works for them to some degree. trust me this is minor surgery , i know of much more extreme measures that folks have taken for even 1 shoot and the camera is distroyed . A means to a end and at the end of the day you better have it in the can or your dead in the water...Show more →
Just show a shot that says this butchering actually worked...You have plenty of time for the forum Guy...take a time out from typing and put up something sensational that isn't client related.
Somehow I feel these topics should have a beginning, middle, and end...this one seems to stay in the beginning and vault into a chat-room format and never go forward....
I was not referring to you in the Bokeh comment, but hte other guy above you -- should have made that more clear.
Anyway, I think the images you linked to were mostly corner crops, many with the lenses wide open. Personally what I saw looked way better than any of my Canon wide or zoom lenses ever did in the corners on my full-frame 1Ds2. Are we seeing something different?

I understand where you are coming from Jack, but there is printing above those images detailing F stops and that sharpening was used on a couple of them.
I saw 3 images from Mike Hatam in the Canon forum when he was selling a Leica zoom...Shots were with the 1Ds2 and the Leica...very very impressive shots for detail and color...I was very much impressed...Now I look at these topics and think old Jack is finally at that age where a visit to the eye doctor has some urgency...ROFL
