Their billing department is VERY quick (to bill you), but the shipping department is slow to get stuff out the door. Good luck if you need help, support or... God forbid... return something.

I've had mixed experiences with them. Mostly good, for items being shipped fairly promptly and being what I expected to get. On two occasions they contacted me to upsell me, on the first they sent a high-priority email stating there was an issue with my order and that they had to speak with me personally before they could ship it. Yep, you guessed it... I had not ordered a filter to protect my new Sigma 150 macro lens! :o
Overall I have no qualms about ordering from them, although I will admit that I sometimes add a note in the comments box to the effect of "don't even think about trying to upsell me..."
Actually I find some of the comments here rather interesting when comparing R&H and Adorama. I understood they were owned by the same company. I could be mistaken on that, though. Anyone know if that's true?

bought a truck load of camera items from Adorama. never had any problems.

I only shop there if absolutely necessary. I recently bought a used item from them. They were one day slow to ship (I expected it to ship on Monday and went out on Tuesday, oh well). The item arrived in good condition and as described.
But my other experience with them was not very pleasant. I bought a used lens that they had rated as a “10” which suddenly didn’t work when they went to ship it. They offered to sell me a new one at a “screaming deal” (it wasn’t). I felt like it was a bait and switch. I also tried to cancel something on that order when it turned out to be out of stock and they treated me like an imbecile after calling 2 or 3 times and getting the runaround.

I was just in there on Monday, and had a great experience... a little pushy on the acessories, and when you're buying a 1000 dollar lens, you don't want someone pushing a 50 dollar filter kit over and over again. Wasn't my purchase enough
They do lack he professionalism of some of the other kit, as witnessed in their relentless push of the Mack warranties.
All in all I like the though, and just need a bit of mental prep to get myself in the door

Just last week ordered some sensor brushes and a blower from them. Received the brushes in reasonable time ( the blower was back ordered - something not mentioned on the web site).
B&H are still my best bet.

I didn't tell you the best part. I ordered something small, can't remember. I reiceved 2 lieca cameras and lens'. I figured about $11,000. OOPS!

I have not purchased anything from them. However, I recently called them on a used (demo) lens they had for sale. The salesperson was unhelpful and basically wanted me to buy the lens with a Mack warranty. He wouldn't tell me the age of the lens and was quite minimal in providing information about the condition of the lens except that it was a demo. After a few minutes, it was obvious that he wanted to get off the phone. This is not the type of attitude I expect from any retailer. This lens was selling for $3500, and I'm not going to give my money to this type of company.

I've had excellent success with Adorama (and B&H, and Calumet, and even Ritz!). I make my purchase decision based on which store has the best price and whether the item is in stock. Adorama has occasionally taken a couple of days to get an order out, but their default shipping method is UPS 3-day, so it all pretty much comes out even. Once, I made an error on an on-line order, and immediately phoned them to correct it. They handeled it right away. Of late, their website has been problematic regarding order tracking, and in-stock status, but their email communication on orders is excellent, and I've never had a problem getting my orders in a timely manner.
p.2 #13 · Adorama, As Bad As Resellerratings Makes It Out To Be
I've made three orders with Adorama, all through their website from here in Australia. All three orders have gone through without any issue - they've included a 70-200 f2.8L IS, a 24-70 f2.8L and more recently a 400 f5.6L. They haven't called trying to upsell anything (maybe they would if I was in the US), and because I've done it all online, I haven't actually had to deal with anyone in person, so I don't know if they're rude or not
I've also used B&H, but I use Adorama now because B&H have some issues accepting my Australian credit card.
I'd have no problem recommending Adorama based on my experience.

I tried to order a lens, flash, filter, and some batteries from Adorama. After 4 days customer service told me my order had been held, but didn't tell me why.
The next day I called them, but the department would net speak to me on the phone, and continuously directed me to a voicemail message requesting I email them. I did asking for clarification.
The responses I received were cryptic, unprofessional, and impolite. I told them to cancel the order and send me confirmation of such.
Two days later I received 3 order cancellation notices... I ordered the same shopping cart from B&H, and it shipped within 5 hours of me placing the order. B&H wins a customer for life.

I usually order from B&H, but Adomrama had a few factory refurnished lenses I wanted so I decided to order them. I got two emails from them (one on filters, one on bags) to try to sell me more stuff. Then When the order did not get shiped after almost a week, I called them (from Australia) and they said that both of the lenses were on backorder, so they must have sold them even though I had ordered them, and then they tried to sell the new versions of the same lenses. I just told them that I would buy from B&H. Luckly the refund came through pretty quick. Not sure I would order from them again any time soon.

I've two experiences with Adorama...both very good.
First time was purchasing a Slinger Bag (love it) and some Sandisk Ultra III memory. The memory was out of stock at the time of my initial order, but was soon available and shipped promply.
Then on last Saturday morning I ordered a new hood for my Canon 80-200 f2.8L along with a Tokina 12-24 lens. Order was shipped out Monday morning and arrived at my door (Vancouver BC, Canada) Wednesday afternoon.
I'll never order anything from B&H however. I visited New York this summer and was so excited to go to B&H in person. I was very close to buying a 70-200 F4 or maybe even a Sigma 70-200 f2.8, but the sales person behind the counter was too disinterested in helping me. Long story-short... seemed very annoyed when I asked to look at and compare the various lenses.

Rude, inconsiderate, sloppy, and slow. I refuse to order from them ever again. B&H is at the opposite end of the spectrum and I do virtually all of my business with them.
