p.2 #6 · Once, just once, I would like Nikon to up Canon. | |

Canon releases bodies at a much greater rate than Nikon, and every time you do, its a breath of fresh air for another full fledged publicity campaign. When you take this into account, Nikon will never match Canon unless their profits skyrocket in the next few fiscal years.
Maybe a bit too often.
You would think that Canon users would eventually come to the conclusion that they have been taken too often?
A breath of fresh air is only your opinion. BTW, Nikon quadrupled it`s profits recently so I ask you , Is having to match Canon really necessary ?
If you really want to "up" Canon and get amateurs and pros to switch over, Nikon will have to step up lens development. I'm sure there are a lot of Canon users wishing there was something like the 17-55 2.8 DX for them. Keep up the development of these good lenses, and provide some good quality CONSUMER level glass. Thats the only way you're going to attract users and pros to switch systems.
Hmm, Having come from Canon I can say from experience that Nikon consumer glass is definitely equal to Canon`s and in many cases superior.
Both have very good upper end glass.
Canon is loaded from consumer to pro with your regular glass to the f4L's to finally the 2.8's. These make it possible for those that aren't making a living with their cameras to make incremental upgrades. Relying on third party brands to fill in your gaps just doesn't cut it.
The above line makes your credibility suspect. I`ve used many good 3rd part lenses with both brands.
Doing something to distinguise your pro and non-pro line of lenses would help as well. Whether this is making it a grey colored lens, putting more distinguised gold bands on them etc.. I'm not sure. This doesn't really matter from a photographers standpoint but it adds to the public mystique of your brand name. Whenever people think of Canon now they think of 1) DIGITAL, 2) WHITE LENSES. Mention Nikon and people remember the glorious film days, and then after a while.. oh yeah, the D70.
You are putting too much emphasis on lens color and conveys the idea that you are a youngster , way too impressionable with style over function, a mark of a true novice.
I wouldn't mind some white lenses of my own. I was out in the sun all day last week with my D70 and 17-55 and the rig heats up quite a bit under the heat.. it had me worried for a bit that I put it back in my bag to cool down before I went to take snaps again. I don't know if I should be worried or not but with that much money dumped into the setup I would rather not risk it. I'd hate to think how hot it gets for people using these guys in much hotter places like arizona or nevada.
Experienced shooters don`t actually worry about color and simply take the necessary precautions to protect their gear anyway.
So now , In summary It`s all in how you look at it isn`t it?
BTW, Just because you might own Canon pro gear (as written in your trailer) in no way infers that you are one. Most pros probably wouldn`t write the things you do.
