Hi
Thanks for the inspiring posting. Fantastic pictures! Is it poossible to buy rings for "stacking" (filter thread to filter thread)?
I was thinking about the modifications you are planning. Have you seen the tacky table lamps you can get with a bunch of fibre-optic that splays out? I think I might try one of those and report back if I have any success.
Hey, that's a cheap way to get fibre-optic's, good idea mikeavison !
(you mean this ? : http://www1.nl2.conrad.com/m/5000_5999/5900/5900/5901/590137_BB_00_FB.EPS.jpg )
I have made a version out of plastic now but after testing i will stick to cardboard.
Plastic is too smooth and reflects the light too direct giving you that flash look.
White cardboard is softer an spreads the light better.
elbmuh: If my eyes is accurate i would say that itīs an 100mm macro from canon and an reversed 50mm lens. You can build your own lensadapter thingy by gluing 2 cokin adaptor rings together. In this case it would be 1 58mm and 1 52mm ring. Thatīs one way of building it but im not sure if eddysign has bought one readymade or built 1 a different way.
the focusring is next to worthless to focus with imo so just move the lens back and forth to focus. you should never Fstop down the reversed lens as basically itīs working as an very very strong magnifier. Obviously you loose some light and some sharpness but just stop down to letīs say 8-16 and you are set.
@northernlight that is exectly what i have done, glued 2 cokinrings together.
I made a plan for the ringflash in photoshop,
Print it on a4, dont use scale to fit.
You can make it fit to your flash.
