I am trying to figure out why you insist on such a huge space grabber called your signature. Please don't take this as my being tacky, but if you truly wanted to show your gear, you could do it in a more space saving fashion, like not putting hard returns between each camera and lens model. Just my $.02.
I think I need a beer.

Leica Man, I have all Leica and Zeiss adapter to EOS body and you can order it from me just PM or email me. I also have the extremely rare Leica Vario-Elmarit-R ASPH 35-70mmF2.8.
PhotoCinemantic - Wow! You have the 85mmF1.2 60th German made. I had this one too. What a gem. But I thought it not that much better than the regular 85/1.4 Planar Japanese. Good on you! You also have the Leica 180/2 Apo-Summicron. The greatest tele lens ever IMO And the Vario-Elmarit-R ASPH 35-70mmF2.8 ! ! ! Only 100 made in the world, no? They say THE greatest Zoom ever made by man...
Andy,
No offense, but there are folks that actually appreciate my signature and would like to see it. You can ask for those that actually take their time and read my signature for their purpose. Thus you may not be intereted but there are those that like to see my updates on lens that I tested and they would like to know.
Also Andy, there are some of us for some reason we cannot get the line across but it keep giving us short lines and this is the reason why alot of us in here and not myself alone have this type of signature.
PhotoCinematic - I once asked a Leica rep, why they stopped making the 35-70 APSH and he said it was too expensive to manufacture and they were losing money on it. And it was selling for like $3000! So what did it cost them to make Yes I know it is R-A-R-E !
I have to admit that I'm totally not happy with the Canon wides. As far as their 135 L and up primes are extremely good. Their zooms are so-so. I really do want the 15mm Distagon. Maybe one day I'll get that.
For those that love the Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 35-70mm f/3.4 know that you do the macro at the 35mm focal length but the Leica Vario-Elmarit-R 35-70mm f/2.8 macro mode is at 70mm.

I agree. Has PhotoCinematic ever made a post longer than his signature? I doubt it. He could put the same list all on one line and then it would come out in a compact form that the browser would automatically format to as many lines as required, but only as many as required. The fact that he insists on such a large list and insists on the mult-line format seems to say something about his ego needs. The information would be just as available and compelling in a compact list or posted on his web site, but he has needs that need to be satisfied by posting it the way he does here.
Why don't you do what most 1DsMk2 owners have been doing and buy an adapter that will accept Zeiss lenses.
Namely, that most owners of this awesome camers are going through so much trouble and using lenses intended for another camera, then doesn't that raise an eyebrow at Canon? And wouldn't that somewhat inspire Canon to perhaps make their lenses perform better?
So then why is everyone mad at me for critizing their beloved Canon
HeHe, Lieca Man I fully understand where you come from.
I honestly used to have the same concerns when I bought my Canon equipments. I used to own
Leica Rs
Leica Ms
Contax MM
Contax G
Hasselblad with 6x6 backs
Nikon 35mm
And yes I was most concerned when I bought my Canon D30 & 1D. I carried out some unscientific tests for myself and found the fact that majority of my Leica R lenses were sharper than my Canons. I used a Novaflex adapter on my Canon 1D and tested various lenses. However, after a careful test and some compromise I decided to sell all my Contax and Leica lenses and invest in Canon and Nikon digital equipment. You might think I am nuts
However, when you go to the digital world, it is no longer your film and lenses which are important. You camera sensor plays a great deal in achieving excellent results, and yes you are right Canon have mastered this. I used to test the shadow details of a lens (where contax lenses shine) and nowadays we test the shadow details of a sensor. Basically what I am trying to say is that, it no longer is the lens alone. The sensor plays a great deal too.
The the the most important thing after choosing your camera and lenses is the technique and workflow which you should follow in achieving good results. I am sure you already know about this.
People here have kindly recommended excellent lenses to you. They all are absolutely correct. Stick to L series and you will be safe. However, I believe Canon suffer from quality control lately. Purchase your lenses from a reputable shop with a good exchange policy and test your lenses thoroughly. I had to send my 24-70L back for a back focusing problem. This was repaired and sent back to me in matter of two weeks.
As for zooms, I think the only zoom which comes close to prime lenses is the 70-200 F2.8 IS. This is a legandry lens with a fantastic bokeh.
You however, can always use a Novaflex adapter and use your R lenses on Canon. You will be able to achieve fantastic results.
I used to own some of my leica lenses until a year ago but all have now gone. Do I miss them? Of course I do, but I can now take a photo with my Nikon D70 + a cheapo 28-200 G lens ( not to mention my 1D Mark II or D2h) and print an A3 at home. The results are great. For the time being that is all I need.
Please do not misunderstand me, the lenses are still extremely important but the difference between the good manufacturers lenses are not as important as they used to be. I still use very expensive lenses and yes the difference is visible in the prints too.
