I dont think anyone ment that Kodak was exiting the pro market just the d/slr market...
Kodak makes chips for many companys, and some of these companys hapen to be producing medium format cameras such as Leaf. Dont forget Kodak has been involved with the production of the early digital sensors so I dont think that they will be leaving anytime soon....

You'd argue just to argue...The Pro C and the 1Ds show at their best at low ISOs...that's been well known since either camera has hit the market.
Pretty easy to research a product that has been on the market for as long as the Pro/C...

Providing you know it isn't good at high ISO then fine. Knowing at what ISO it's images become unacceptable to you is also reasonable (some people are happy with noise that others would find dreadful - personaly I wouldn't have been too happy with the noise present in the shadows of the 160 ISO sample shown above).

From what I've seen and given a choice between the Kodak and a used 1Ds then the Canon would be my choice without question, but everyone needs to weight the factors up in their own mind. Insulting people for asking questions that are important to them when it comes to making this choice isn't productive.

Most d/slrs are far better in low light performance compared to the equivelent ISO on film.. I think some ppl just expect to much in some cases.

I would consider one so I can have full frame for my 200/1.8 rather than cropping on my 20D

But your 200/1.8 isn't going to fit. It's Nikon mount.

I would have thought that you would want more focal length..

I would like to get a full 17mm focal length on a d/slr body.
After using it on a film body it feels a little disapointing when I use it on my 20D

Kodak makes the SLR/n for Nikon mount, SLR/c for Canon EOS.

My mistake. The Luminous Landscape artical compared the Nikon mount version to the 1Ds. Is the Canon mount version more recent?

Steve,

personaly I wouldn't have been too happy with the noise present in the shadows of the 160 ISO sample shown above.

I'm no pro and I'm not arguing your point. In what way would you not be happy about the noise in the sample? Again theses are unprocessed. Are you saying the noise would show up in a print? Are you saying it could not be processed out?

I’m not saying one camera would be better than the other. I’m only showing what this camera can do. I’m sure others could do MUCH better than me. The person buying a camera will have to decide for themselves.

I’m sure since you are recommending one camera over the other you tried both the Kodak and the 1Ds and have samples of both that you could share with us correct?

Also on the Luminous Landscape article compared the older 14n not the SLR/c or SLR/n.

For what it’s worth I could have bought the Kodak and a 20D for the price of a used 1Ds or 1DII at the time I bought it. The best of both worlds

Darren
