Les,
I love the one with the eagle on the ground. It is so different. He has a drop of water on his beak and his feathers seem to be flying in the breeze. It is wonderful. -Cindy
Cindy,
Thanks for looking and for commenting. I think that is actually a fish scale on its beak, but I've been looking all winter for a chance at a picture of one on the ground, and I've only gotten my first chances this week.

Les,
that first shot is amazing in that it so effectively illustrates the real size and scale of the bird and what it has to get aloft from a running start.
Amazing. I don't know what we'll do when these guys all migrate. Fuel up the truck and head north, my friend!

Gero,
I appreciate your comments. At this point, I like pictures that show something a bit different from what I already have and one of bird flying low is a bit different for me.

These are all great, but I also like the first one best. There is just something about a large bird in flight that is awe inspiring, and that first one cptures the awe.
Alan,
Thanks for looking and for the comments. I, too, like the flight shots, but when I can get one that close to the ground and ice, it is a bit different, and I tend to like it more.

Great eagle shots, looks like you got close. Where were these taken?
Thanks for the look and for the comments. They were taken in the backwaters of the Mississippi near Dubuque, Iowa, but on the Illnnois side of the river.

Les, I've been lurking on your eagle threads and enjoying them immensely. You have so many great images and I second the idea that you should create a book of these!
I am in Minnesota and am interested if you know how soon this flock might be heading up my way and where they might be found. I would love to try and photograph them!
Thanks for the look and for the comments. I would guess that, by now, the largest numbers should be somewhere around central Wisconsin.

Great work as usual, Les. The flying shots are my favorites as well - and I know how tough they are. Thanx again.

Pat,
Thanks much for the kind comments. The flight shots are more fun to take because there is greater sense of challenge, and it really is a neat feeling to see them when you nail them.
