p.1 #1 · Anyone Shooting using the Sigma 28-45/1.8 DG N ART?
Reports of IQ being quite impressive but the relatively short zoom FL must be a turn-off for some. I can't get it out of my mind though and just go on and buy a Sigma 24-70/2.8 DG DN ART II.

24-50G is reportedly sharper than the 24-70 ART II, even if you have to crop from 50 to 70mm./
Food for thought: A 28/1.4 prime can kinda be used as a 28-40 f/1.4-2 through cropping, and is brighter on the wide end than the 28-45/1.8. The zoom should be better (sharper) at the long end though, since it fills the frame.

The 28-45/1.8 is pretty large and like aCuria says, I always thought I'd rather carry a smaller fast prime instead. The 35GM can produce the same DoF as 45mm at f1.8, and with high MP cameras I'm not starved for resolution to crop away a bit.
The Sony 28-70/2 on the other hand is similarly sized to the Sigma and 70/2 is quite a different story, so if flexible focal range is your priority that seems like a no brainer except from a cost standpoint.
