It was my last day and I was planning to shoot till just after sunset at Mary's Point of the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge in the Finger Lake reason of New York State. About 15 minutes before sunset clouds moved in and it got dark and nothing looked good so I started to pack up. As I started to walk off the observation dock, I noticed a hole opening up right at the horizon so said out loud we are going to get gap light and I turned around and set back up with the other photographer on the dock saying yes this is worth staying for. A moment later the male eagle of the couple that was purchased on a tree about 150 yards away took off. These are my faverate images of the flight.
Comments and suggestions welcome,
Morris

That is one aspect of wildlife photography that has my other old hobby of model aviation beat. When I was a little kid and wanted to take just one more flight, that was the one where I'd inevitably crash, heh. Later as an adult I learned when to call it quits and rehydrate. Whereas when waiting out wildlife, usually something interesting can happen like a break in the clouds, warm light and an eagle takes flight. Nice work.

Very unique lighting! Great images.
thank you Malka,
When the setting sun or rising sun goes through a gap in the clouds or between the clouds and the earth the light is amazing.

Thank you Eric,
I've crashed many a model aircraft and then I learned to build them and let others fly them. I knew I'd get special photos in that light and that's why I waited. The eagle was a wonderful surprise. I wish I could thank him. I wonder what he was thinking as he flew past us looking right at us.
