Looking for a Black, near mint Nikon Zf and Voigtlander 40mm f1.2. Had one with the Voigtlander 40mm that got stolen back on my birthday in July, finally enough time has passed and I am finally getting another.
Please send me the asking price and photos of the camera and lens, and thank you for the lens conversation. Local meet ups in Washington or I will pay to have it shipped out to me. Thanks in advance!
I just sold my zf, but I’ve got the Voigtlander 50 f1. I’ve also owned the 40 1.2. I also have the 85 1.2 Nikon and at one point I had the Plena 135. The 50 and 40 fit the zf aesthetic really well. They are both good for portraits and are everyday carry worthy as well. The 85 and 135 are gorgeous portrait lenses but they are big on the front of the zf with its ergonomics.
I don’t think you could go wrong with any of them. If you don’t mind manual focus, the 50 would be my choice. It’s very versatile, fits the ergonomics of the zf, and has a beautiful rendering. I love mine.
Thanks for the reply on the gear! I had the 40mm f1.2 on my old Zf before it got stolen, and it was very nice. I just rented gear for a wedding and had the Z8 with the Nikon 50 f1.2 and Tamron 35-150. For what I normally do (hiking) I have right now a 24-120 which Im excited to try out.
Portraits though, I miss my Medium Format "look" where everythings out of focus but the full body subject. Some say its "3D rendering" or "Micro contrast". Whatever that look is, I love. The 85mm or 135mm may be able to achieve this? If so, I can get a manual 40 or 50mm and maybe the 135mm. Id say those 2 lenses, or just the 85 f1.2 (given the cost). What're your thoughts there?
Thanks again!

To get that 3d pop with the 135 was easy if I did full body portraits, but you need space to get that. I find that the 50 f/1 from Voigtlander gives a different look from other lenses (even the 40 1.2). It’s my favorite lens rendering. However, I loved the 50 1.2 from Nikon. I found the Voigtlander gave similar subject separation as the Nikon but the out of focus was much more painterly or dreamy.
The 85 is similar to the 135 and 50 from Nikon as far as rendering. I use it a lot for portrait work because of the focal length but I’m not usually as enamored with it until I get it in capture one. It’s easier to use indoors because of working space but I preferred the plena’s rendering. I sold it though because it wasn’t as practical as the 85.
I use the Voigtlander as my walk around, stays on the every day camera option when I have time and don’t care whether I miss focus occasionally. I use the 85 and 35 1.2 Nikons for my paid work.
If my budget was limited I’d probably get the 40 and the 85 as those would be much more useful as a combo. If budget wasn’t an option or you were willing to go a little bit more, I’d go with the 50 and 135, but I like longer focal lengths and lots of separation.
