p.1 #1 · Opinion on AF-S Nikkor 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G on ZFC or Z50
Hi all:
I had this lens for awhile but I never used it on a Nikon Z mirrorless camera (yet). I am tempted to get a zfc or Z50 from the B&S board.
I am wondering how this lens performs on the APS-C mirrorless, how does it handle with a FTC adaptor? Or should I get a Z lens instead. I mainly use it for travel and casual street snaps. Thx

I used that lens with 12 MPix DX DSLR cameras.
Then swapped it for a AF-S 16-80/2.8-4E ED VR, which was/is a much better lens (on D300 & D7200).
Finally I moved to FF only bodies.
If I had a DX MILC, I would opt for a Z lens, most likely the 16-50/2.8.

While the AF-S 16–85mm was a decent mid-range lens in its day, the “24–120mm” option for DX, it is easily outclassed now. It will seem oversized on a DX Z body with FTZ, and the kit Z 16–50mm is a better performing lens that fits with the Z50 or Zfc theme of small and compact. The 16–85 will likely work fine and capture nice images, but you can buy a used Z 16–50 kit lens for less than the FTZ itself.
