Wow! Nikon announces firmware development (not actually release). In the meantime just about every other camera manufacturer announce and release new cameras and lenses. Is Nikon planning on staying in business? Their market share is tanking.

The ZR is already in the hands of customers. The FX5 is twice the price and has yet to ship. Canon still has zero support for for third party FF AF lenses. The L mount is still missing a stacked sensor camera. I guess the entire camera market has given up?
What even is this verbal tomfoolery supposed to mean? mklass wrote:

Which firmware updates did Nikon promise but not deliver?
Well, several years ago, they stated that they were going to issue firmware updates for Z cameras that would enable voice recording of notes for images. After all, all the hardware is in the cameras to record video. They never got beyond doing that for 1 or 2 camera models.

Google's AI search summary might be wrong but it says "Nikon Z9 Nikon Z8 Nikon Zf Nikon Z6 III Nikon Z6 II (added via Firmware version 1.30) Nikon Z6 (added via Firmware version 3.30) Nikon Z50 II Nikon Z5 II Nikon ZR" support voice notes.
No I said what I said. At least have the guts to properly quote me. I'd rather Nikon publicly state they have a development roadmap than say nothing and I'd also rather them develop and support this thing with future updates than not support it and have customers holding even more negative sentiment towards the company and their product line. mklass wrote:

I see. Z7 and Z7 II did not get voice memo. But did Nikon promise that they would include it in these cameras? I was not able to find such a development announcement or press release.
