p.1 #1 · Looking for a few Mac photographers to help test an image viewer
Hi,
I’m the developer of a small macOS app called Just Look!.
It’s basically an image viewer/culling tool for quickly going through folders before moving on to Lightroom, Capture One, or whatever you use for editing.
The app is already released, but I’m trying to find a few people who would be willing to use beta builds on their real photo folders and tell me what breaks, what is annoying, or what just doesn’t make sense.
I’m especially interested in people who work with things like:
- large folders / long shoots
- bursts and many similar images
- RAW or RAW+JPEG
- checking focus/details at 100%
- external drives
- older Macs / Intel Macs
- workflows where you first cull images before importing them somewhere else
Actually it’s probably more useful if you just use it normally and tell me when you hit something bad.
For example:
- it becomes slow after a while
- some image doesn’t render correctly
- a shortcut feels wrong
- compare works, but is annoying to use repeatedly
- you expected something to behave differently
- you just give up and switch back to the software you normally use
That kind of feedback is what I’m looking for.
At the moment Just Look! has fast folder navigation, picks, ratings/tags, zooming, and a few ways to compare similar images. I’m also still working quite a lot on the compare/culling workflow, so feedback there would be especially useful.
Privacy-wise, the beta is the same as the released version. Just Look! itself doesn’t upload your photos or collect user data. TestFlight can send me Apple’s normal beta diagnostics/crash reports.
