Nice captures, Tony! Are they the predominant species in your neck off the woods?

Thanks Douglas.
The only native deer on Vancouver Island is the Columbian black-tailed deer (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus), a compact subspecies of the mule deer. They range widely from high alpine areas and dense forests to clear-cuts, beaches, and suburban neighborhoods
We also get elk, but I have not seen one as they stay further out of town.
Vancouver Island is home to the largest and purest population of Roosevelt elk in North America. Mature bulls can weigh over 1,000 pounds (450+ kg) and feature massive, rugged antlers. Once near extinction, the island's estimated 3,000 to 4,500 elk now thrive across temperate rainforests, clear-cuts, and rural valleys
