This is one of the most famous places in the Lofoten Islands. After a long and challenging hike, my wife took a break and sat on the rock you can see in the picture. It was a beatiful, sunny day. As I was taking in the scene, a ray of sunlight broke through the clouds. This is one of my favorite photos from the whole trip.
Among other things, this is a wonderful example of how a very small human element in a scene can completely change how we respond to it. (For anyone who wants to ponder that, just put the tip of your finger over the human figure...)

I agree. It gives the photo a sense of scale and perspective. I always like to include "these things" in most of my landscape shots.
