p.1 #1 · Quick trip up California/Oregon coast into PNW

Hi
I haven't been posting much of my work - many reasons and hardly the place to go into them here.
However, I recently helped my brother move his son into college in Bellingham, WA so we made a short, intense road trip from San Francisco Airport up to Bellingham and back. I had a few bucket list locations I want to try and photograph - Bowling Ball Beach, Samuel Boardman State Reserve, Columbia River Gorge, Mt Rainier and The Enchantments. Most of these plans didn't work out because time was too limited.

Bowling Ball Beach - bust. Tide was too high.
Samuel Boardman - Good. No colourful light but moody fog
Columbia River Gorge - Bust. No time.
Mt Rainer - Bust. Too crowded. Instead went to the Cascades which are spectacular
Enchantments - Same as Rainier

Anyway here are my favourites from the trip and a few notes:

Samuel Boardman State Reserve: The ideal photo locations require a dangerous scramble and time spent near cliff edges. The penalty for a trip/slip here is death. I would only suggest trying to get to these locations if you are fit and experienced around heights. Having said that, it is spectacular and I would like to return. The photograph is a panorama shot at 16mm with 5 vertical images stitched. Wished I had a wider lens here.

Cascade Mountains - the hikes and scenery around Washington Pass and Rainy Pass are spectacular. Some of the hikes are hard but well worth it if you can manage it. The wind blew over my tripod and my brand new A7R6 fell off a cliff. I recovered it but it's only it way to the repair shop. Sigh. World's clumsiest landscape photographer - yes that's me.

Tamanawas Falls - Random stop and it turned out to be a beautiful waterfall, well worth the visit.
