p.1 #1 · Thresher sharks, Malapascua, the Philippines
Took a short trip there and I was lucky to see quite a few thresher sharks there.
All taken with Nikon Z8, 14-30/4 in Nauticam housing. At this divesite,
no flash or artificial light source is allowed as these sharks are very shy so
available light photography only.

Thanks Eric, the sharks were generally around 4-5 m away. They are actually quite long. Not including the tail, they around 1.5-2M long but are quite slim so head on shot they looked pretty tiny on 14-30 but side profile they fill the frame very nicely. 2 friends got very lucky, both quite new to scuba diving and the sharks got close to them, within arm length easily, looking at their Go Pro video. Very very jealous One friend actually got smacked in the shoulder by the shark's tail as it turned away from him. Basically when we see them underwater, we just stop and hope they get curious and come close to us. If we try to move toward them, they tend to swim away very quickly.

Excellent photographs!
We rarely see underwater photos and especially of sharks.
Amazing tales on those sharks.
It's good that threshers are not interested in eating humans.

Thanks Dave. Majority of sharks are more afraid of human, especially divers. Most of the time, they keep away from divers and are rather difficult to photograph. Even tiger sharks, bull sharks or ocean white tips that are considered dangerous, there are quite a few places where you can dive with them and are very safe (unless you do something stupid of course ).
Next year I am planning a trip with cage diving with great white, that should be a lot of fun hopefully.
