Just wondering if anyone has had issues after updating?

I did update On1 effects 2026 yesterday. I gives a message that a GPU memory of 8GB is now minimum. *Edit it looks like it's recommend, and yellow. Will see how stable it is.
The Nvidia RTX 4050 laptop GPU only has 6GB. That's a very common GPU in non gaming laptops.

Very shortsighted. That essentially ends any future purchases from On1 because of incompatibility.
I wont buy a new laptop for $2K+ just because On1 decides from now on 8GB GPU memory is minimum.
Because of the AI frenzy, computer components are now so overprized anyway.

I updated yesterday, and no issues so far… aside from one bizarre thing that may or may not be related.

I use the Apple OS utility to capture screen images for various purposes, mostly related to writing or demonstrating stuff. The fist time I did that after the update, the app got stuck — as far as I could tell — in the video recording mode and I could not get out of it. This had the unfortunate effect of dimming the entire screens on both of my monitors.

After a reboot and switching the app from one selection mode to another (from capturing only the selected area to capturing the full screen and then back again) the problem went away.

It seems the future may be iGPU since the shared RAM can remove the capacity bottlenecks. The Radeon 8060s in the Strix Halo has pretty good Pungent Sound results for the power. Then there will be 400 series, plus iNtel is getting Nvidias as iGPU in '28. For now a mobile 5070Ti is probably good for a few years or get a 5080 in the larger laptops.

It's a company in WA that builds computers. https://www.pugetsystems.com/about-us/
They were called Puget Sound Systems for many years so I am referring to that name, plus the typo.

Heh. I thought it might be something like that, and that perhaps "auto(un)correct" had "corrected" Puget Sound to Pungent Sound. Which is kind of funny. ("The sound has been pungent since that dead whale washed up and rotted on the beach!") Like what it did to something I posted in a different thread where it changed "prime aperture" into "primate aperture." ;-)

yes, i wish they would introduce something like Apples shared memory technology in PC/windows systems. The growing AI use is a graphics card memory hog.

Yes, the iGPU shares the system RAM. There are some differences in how ARM/iNtel/AMD do that, but your can probably disable the mobile 4050 in your current laptop and it will do so. It's probably sucky slow though.

Yes, I did experience a problem after updating.i too got a window with a yellow exclamation ⚠️ that informed me that my vram was only 8gb and using metal 2 that was not meeting the minimum requirement.

After updating and opening the program the basic tone and color worked fine, but clicking on local and choosing anything other than brush it would continuously scan with no end.

On1 does have excellent customer support. They suggested that I either go back to the previous version or upgrade my system.

I’m currently running a late 2017 iMac i7 with a Radeon 580 pro 8gb graphics card that uses metal 2. The metal 2 is what does not meet the minimum requirement. There’s no way to upgrade my system so I went back to the previous version.

Nope. No problems on the Tahoe 26.6 other than the fact that the UI still blows and the software still feels bloated and more like PaintShopPro with the patched together pieces. Oh, and they haven't fixed the RAW sliders, or made the application of NNAI any easier. Generative fill via the crop tool and elsewhere remains pathetic.
