I purchased this lens new from B&H for a trip to the Okavango delta and am physically unable to do the trip. Couldn't get into or our out of a makaro. It has never been mounted on my Z8 (also for sale in a day or two). Only removed from box to mount Kirk foot replacement. It has resided in my lens cabinet. Price net to seller. I am selling my entire Nikon setup in the coming days, all in excellent condition and well priced. Please PM with questions.
If you mean Makaro, then yes, there is a locality named Makoro (sometimes people spell it "Makaro"), but it is not near the Okavango Delta. It is in Botswana's Central District, roughly east of the Delta and much closer to Francistown than to Maun.
However, if you heard the word in the context of the Okavango Delta, it's much more likely that the person said mokoro (plural: makoro).
A mokoro is the traditional dugout canoe used to travel through the shallow channels of the Okavango Delta. Today, many are made of fiberglass for conservation reasons, but they are still poled through the water by a guide standing at the back. Taking a mokoro trip is one of the classic Okavango safari experiences.
So:
Makoro (place) → a small locality in central Botswana, not near the Okavango Delta.
Makoro (plural of mokoro) → the traditional canoes that are iconic in the Okavango Delta.
