At the recommendation of the estimable Morris, my wife and I went birding at Orient Beach State Park on Long Island's North Fork Monday morning. It did not disappoint. We were the only people there, which might have explained by the nesting willets and ospreys were so upset when we unwittingly approached their nests. I had never seen ospreys display such frenetic protective behavior.
We enjoyed a lovely sunset ferry ride from New London the evening before, which also yielded some keepers.
