How patronising! The USA is a Democracy! People are free to have an OPPOSITE point of view and to voice there opinions, as we do here in the United Kingdom, unlike Russia: if the majority don't agree with the Government the electorate are FREE to vote in people with different ideas !
Viva! USA! Viva Democracy! whatever their point of view!

Thank you, Fred, for starting this thread — and congratulations on this forum’s own remarkable milestone. As a European, and especially as a German, I have many reasons to celebrate America and to be grateful for what it has given to the world: freedom, creativity, culture, science, generosity — and, for us in Germany, the chance to rebuild in peace and democracy after our darkest chapter. At the same time, I would not be honest if I did not say that this anniversary also makes me deeply sad. Many of us grew up seeing the United States as a friend, a partner, and a moral reference point. The new course America has taken makes that much harder to feel today. So I celebrate America with gratitude and affection — but also with real concern, and with the sincere hope that the best of America will prevail. ...Show more →
Many of us here in America share your concern about this "new course" but it is only temporary so don't give up on us.

Fred - I've been a member since 2004 and have always valued this site. But I have one issue with it, an entire page of buy/sell feedback has gone missing and there is no one to contact about this issue. Can you help?

Well, I got my own little 250th anniversary surprise the other day. I received the proclamation from my U.S. Representative, Kelly Morrison, that my image of two Loons and a chick was selected to be included in a time capsule stored in the U.S. Capitol not to be opened until our 500th anniversary.
So, does this mean I need to keep my website active for the next 250 years? In all honesty, I'm blown away by this!

Congratulations, Bob! It's nice to be recognized but as part of the official record of the United States, that's something special. Great picture, too!

Congratulations Bob, that's an incredible honor! Just imagine the faces of whoever opens that capsule in 2276 and sees your Loons and chick photo looking back at them. Two hundred and fifty years from now, your work will still be telling its story. Well deserved, and what a way to be part of history.

Thanks Fred! I am humbled and overwhelmed that my photo (and my name) will be around 250 years from now.
