"Released on July 2, 2026, Capture One 16.8.3 is a service release that brings support for Hasselblad X2D 100C, X2DII 100C, and CFV 100C with dedicated color profiles and full RAW support on desktop and mobile, plus lens profiles for 19 Hasselblad XCD lenses. "

Do Phase One and Hasselblad even compete in the same market space any more? Hasselblad has moved down in price point to attract a broader customer base, competing pretty much directly with Fuji at the low end of mini medium format digital capture.
I haven't followed Phase One for a long time and just had a look at their website. Seems a big focus is aerial and similar work. And high end document documentation/preservation. They still market to photographers, but the gear is in a totally different category. Well, it seems Phase is still in the same category it was always in. Everyone else has become more accessible.
The percentage of Capture One users who do not use Phase One products must massively outnumber those who do. This move just keeps Capture One somewhat relevant and broadens the user base.

Phase One and Capture One are two separate companies. That happened nearly 6 years ago. Changes in ownership across these companies is likely why this reunion is happening at all.

'plus lens profiles for 19 Hasselblad XCD lenses.'
The only Nikon Z lens with Capture One lens profiles support is the Nikon 24-70/4 consumer zoom.
A lens profile is necessary to activate the sharpness falloff slider.
It really is a joke to completely neglect Nikon Z lenses, and support Hasselblad lenses from scratch.
I certainly will cancel my Capture One subscription.

I have not researched it much, but it seems that Nikon Z raw files contain all the data for lens corrections. It shows up as the Manufacturer's profile in Capture One. It is the same with new Sony lenses, which confused me at first. Hasselblad probably does not embed corrections into its raw files.

Don’t everyone get too excited yet. If you read the release notes carefully, lens correction is incomplete because Hasselblad don’t write the focus distance into the image metadata, so Capture One are “working with” Hasselblad on a firmware update to their cameras.

long overdue, maybe too late..
As a longterm C1 user, I have to say the underinvestment in the software is getting increasingly obvious. Current private equity owner has cut cost, practically killed the perpetual license model and is now looking to sell C1.. I don't think the end result will look good for users.
I still prefer it over Lightroom because of its core RAW engine and some of the tools, but C1 doesn't feel like polished software anymore and is taking forever to catch up with some useful tools available in LR (e.g. ML-based denoise, which I think is now finally coming? Also no built-in focus stacking is a wtf in 2026).

the sharpness falloff slider is grayed out with manufacturer profiles.
