Congratulations to Jeffrey for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 4 votes - View Previous Winners

I was seeking storms and cells from South Texas to Tyndall, South Dakota, where I encountered this supercell at sunset. What a great combination of events and timing...

Next step up is to capture some tornadoes spinning up! Having grown up in Tornado Alley, I think the shots would be cool, but you’re never going to see me get that close.

Oh, yeah, that sounds easy enough. They are rare. In the two weeks we were there during peak season, we saw none. So you didn't like this image?

Your image is great, didn’t mean my phrasing to come off like that! I was just talking about my own personal danger tolerance levels to where I wouldn’t want to be super close to a tornado to get a photo. I grew up on these very plains and have experienced my fair share of tornado sirens going off and rushing into tornado shelters. I’ll leave that thrill to the storm chasers and weather reporters on TV instead

absolutely love this image. Curious, when chasing these storms I take it you are constantly looking at the weather channel and the weather radar.

Thank you for looking. Yes all our vehicles were Starlink equipped with sophisticated weather modeling software, running on computers. We had three meteorologist chasers guiding us. We were constantly referring to the weather maps and the projections.

Spectacular, Jeffrey! One to print and hang for sure. I like the 2:1 ratio. You could also post this to the The Panorama Image Thread, folks would love it:

sometimes you can be out for hours or most of the day and in the end, one photo makes it worthwhile. everything works together for a dynamic weather photo. the lightning strike is the cherry on top. thanks for sharing.

Beautifully done! Love the color, dynamic lighting and contrast. Especially the composition with the lighting off to the right. Flows really nicely.
