p.1 #1 · NEC Monitor Issue... Blotchy ... Insights?
I use an NEC PA301W monitor... getting old but I still love it... calibrated etc...
I am getting some streaky blotchy somethings on it. I found some websites that will flash and run through color routines to "unstick" pixels etc.... these actually did work somewhat but not completely.
One of the "lines" appears to be burn in from Lightroom and occurs on the left side of my photo viewing pane. It is not a hard line but a fudgy mess of a line. Other places the smudges appear as arcs or something like a poor cleaning job.
When I display say pure red or blue, they are invisible.... but will show with greys. Odd.
Any help? Insights? Just wearing out? The monitor is still totally usable, but being neurotic, I don't like it.
p.1 #2 · NEC Monitor Issue... Blotchy ... Insights?
I had an NEC 3090WQXi Aeons ago. That was a few years earlier but similar spec., 30 inchers 2560x1600. I had nothing but problems uniformly and calibration. I replaced it with an Eizo and have been using them ever since (6 Eizos altogether).
I had a laptop with burn-in due to the display being stuck on 100% brightness with a harsh display pattern from a system restore uncontrolled by the OS. Text and borders were sharply appearing over the normal display. I ran a color pattern tool over a weekend and it was mostly back to normal. Another few days of that pattern and it was fine. Just don't stare at it or you may literally become sick or have a seizure. Something about strong RGB patterns is mentally nauseous.
The main issue we see with old CCFL displays is variations in brightness due to the tubes reaching end of life.
