p.1 #1 · CFExpress card for A1 II

Apologize if this was discussed (I'm sure it's). I was an original A1 user, then moved to Nikon. I might try A1 II soon. I'm wondering what CFExpress card is the best 'investment'. I know A1 II doesn't support 4.0 card. But does the 4.0 card have any disadvantages in A1 II? I know I many not get full benefit in camera. If it works well, what's the fastest card (to clear buffer) for A1 II?

Thanks
Jemini

The main reason to get v4 cards is cause they are cheaper than v2 cards for some reason. The performance in camera is the same although if you get a v4 reader copying files to your computer is faster.

Thanks for the confirming the compatibility. So no reason to by 2.0 cards.

Do you know which card is the fastest to empty the buffer?

This guy has tested pretty much all of them: https://www.alphashooters.com/cameras/sony-a7v/memory-cards/

Thank you Dave. Unless I missed it, there's no single card that performs better that others? As I understand VPG200 is plenty for photo. I remember cheaper pergear was slower to empty the buffer than branded cars in A1. When Z8 came out people found Delkin Devices black card work like unlimited buffer for RAW files. Is there any particular card that's better than others?

Many times the mainstream version of a memory technology is cheaper than older versions because that's where the volume production is being deployed.

All the cards I have tested perform exactly the same. The camera electronics is the limiting factor not the cards. There are lots of claims on the internet but I believe this is the raving of "experts" who don't know how to make a reliable measurement.

Performance sure, thermals no. Some cards run really hot and I try to avoid those brands.

Also many don't advertise sustained write speed and just quote the headline act max theoretical R&W speeds. It pays to dig a lot deeper and search out the real benchmarks.
