I rarely get a good view of much birdlife just out my back door but 20 meters away in the late afternoon a Red-Shouldered Hawk landed on a post and "posed" for me nicely. Only problem was his head was awash with strong light and his body was in shadow, but I had fun with it anyway. I got many different looks of it from slightly different positions, trying to keep sun out of my eyes so I could focus! Here are 2 of them, with "contemplative" and more "menacing" looks...
Both with Nikon Z8 and 100-400 @400mm. Constructive commends appreciated
Thank you everyone for comments and Karl, for your pm. I am guilty of trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, especially when just two days back from a doctor visit regarding macula degeneration issues - I'm running Photoshop by magnifying glass! Better stick with my landscape & flower pics maybe too.
Anyway, I'm posting a jpeg of the raw unprocessed file I was foolishly trying to make something of and then a much less manipulated and unsharpened version. This bird did have rich orange colors according to a better sighted friend. But frankly, the bird is showing me almost all shadow with its head nearly washed out.
