Has anyone used 3rd party inks? I have a Canon ipf8400, which is great, but canon has discontinued the inks. I’m aware that there may be issues with some off-brand inks, but wondering if there any viable options to buying a new printer.
I miss my ipf8400. The main circuit board on my 8400 died about 2 yrs ago.
I was looking at 3rd party inks. I had heard good things about ink owl.
Cone inks at inkjet mall also has excellent reviews- but I am not sure if they still do canon printers.
Good luck

Biggest concern going with 3rd party ink is how close are they to the OEM inks as far as profiles go. If they differ, then you need to get new profiles for your papers.
I am now using Comboinks in my R1900 Epson (because Epson have discontinued their own inks)
The Comboinks seem to have replicated Epson's inks perfectly and have allowed me to combine them with some unused Epson's that I still had without missing a beat.
If Comboinks make inks for your printer, I can thoroughly recommend them
Agree with dh. Source expired inks on ebay or elsewhere as long as possible. After you've exhausted those resources, the printer may have declared itself or eventually, you'll have to look at 3rd party stuff.
