Yesterday I visited Nickerson Beach, Long Island, NY. It is the nesting grounds for a variety of shore birds as well as a popular bathing place for people. This odd combination works surprisingly well as the nesting areas are roped off and the birds don't mind the people visiting. The beach opens for bathing this coming weekend and final touches were underway as I enjoyed the mostly empty beach with just a few people walking along the beach and one set of birders showing up. About half a dozen worker were operating heavy equipment as well as the beach patrol driving through. I waved to the workers as they passed me or I passed them and they waved back. We have talked numerous times and they appreciate the birds and the preserv.
This set of photos features the beach equipment and a little more. I'm fond of juxtapositions and these vary quite a bit. I hope you find at least some of these interesting.
Comments and suggestions welcome,
Morris
Ps. I have many more traditional bird images to share from the visit yet I figured I'd share these while I chose the best to share with you.

Your images are top-quality, as usual. I think the equipment is a little too blurred in some of the images. I'm a huge fan of heavy equipment in general, and it might have been more impactful if, counterintuitively, the equipment was a little more prominent, especially in images 1&6.
