This little wetland preserve is literally at the end of my block... and it was one of the more productive days I've had, especially when I consider the miles I've driven in the past to find a whole lot less. Funny how life works sometimes.
Getting eyed by the local Osprey

When he looked down and I followed his gaze, I wondered if he was contemplating rabbit for breakfast?

Or maybe Muscovy Duck was on the menu?

I tried to capture what early Florida mornings are like when I first arrived that morning. Very still with the wind and sun not clearing the fog off the water yet...and in contrast, the water surface was just waking up, beginning to team with activity... little fish fry and bugs all jumping and zipping over the water surface, turtles and tadpoles breaking the water surface everywhere.
It's not the heat, it's the humidity

Great set Eric, that first shot is fantastic. Wish I could walk to the end of our block and find half the wildlife you found, good for you.
Thanks Louie, I wasn't able to access it for years until they cut back the over-growth. New politician didn't have it in his budget I guess, and then finally got around to maintaining it again. I think hurricane clean up side-lined the project a few years.

Real nice set Eric. That first osprey shot is processed just right as you lifted the shadows without going too far.

Thanks Morris, they are always so touchy on those whites, it is amazing how much you have to underexpose to save the whites, sometimes over a full stop.

Great set Eric. Lucky you to be so close to this spot. All good but #5 is my favorite.

Thanks John, appreciate the comment and your pick. I've been doing some recon and am finding more stuff closer to home lately... It makes me chuckle sometimes after going on a long drive and coming up dry, then almost home I see a half dozen Wood Storks in a drainage ditch while I'm driving... it's not the pretty'est environmental setting, but still, wildlife pop's up where you least expect it, sometimes right under your nose or your own backyard. I've had a dozen Ibis in my front yard, pecking away for grubs... and a great egret is a daily visitor to my neighbor's Oak tree. They are just taunting me because I don't have a camera in my hand at those times.
Oh man that is one wide-eyed osprey looking at you buddy!
Those Muscovy's are like ugly-beauty Love the water color on the second one.
Nice bunny shots
Humidity ....... yuck!
Nice to have this as local access, hope you find more local treasures here.
