p.3 #1 · Kit selection for Iceland

Im here and have been to Island for over a month. Bring the long lens dude. It's so worth having out here. Nobody's mentioned it, but today I used my 100-400 only to photograph the beautiful Icelandic horses. Bring the wide, the 24-120 and the 180-600. Be covered. No Primes! And bring a drone to triple your photography options. Everyone here crying about drones are speaking to literally 3% of the island where all the tourists shoot iconic scenes. I agree with them about how it's annoying hearing drones zip by for all these overshot iconic scenes, however I don't agree with them for telling you to keep the drone home for the other 97% of the Island they don't explore.. Icelands pretty big and it's super easy to fly away from people and come away from stunning landscape images.

Came back home today and like you 24-120 stayed glued to my camera. I did use 14-35 few times for waterfall pics. Other than that RX100 VII and my phone got used a lot as well.

Drone was a bust as I was only able to fly it couple of times. Either it was prohibited at the location or winds were so high that mini 5 pro did not stand a chance.

I did use X5 at few places and got really nice videos but I just felt weird walking around with a selfie stick and getting stares from people that

Hopefully you both had great time in my country and got some great photos.

I hope so too. Will find out when I edit rhymes.

Absolutely loved the country. It was every bit of a fairy land world that I had imaged it to be. On every corner there was something stunning that could be on a post card.

The only thing that I wasn't prepared was that how bad the airport was. Took us over an hour and half to get pass the arrival security due to long lines and only few counters open. None of their self checkout machines were working. Similar experience today for our outgoing flight.

Going to the plane on a bus was another new adventure for the kids which they did not care for at the arrival due to heavy rain and wind.

Overall, it was a great experience but a week is too short to explore Iceland. Hopefully, someday I will revisit and spend at least few weeks.
