p.1 #1 · YT'er Magic Wedding's Sony AF recommendations

I know the vast majority here know the Sony AF system very well, and have it dialed in, but even if some of this content is very basic, I still managed to pick up a nugget or two in this video that will help with my people photography. Cheers.

I watched the video (thanks for posting) and it makes sense to me. Up to now I have always used one of the width settings to control AF subject selection, so will try his recommendation.

Curious what other people use for AF and whether his approach is widely used, esp. for candid photos of people in various groups and locations.

I have different modes depending on which custom setting I am using as I have them mapped for 1 (Portrait), 2 (Action), and 3 (Landscape), in typical PAL setup. I used wide for Portrait with Human subject and eye-tracking, but I have switched it to Small tracking now.

p.1 #4 · YT'er Magic Wedding's Sony AF recommendations

Thanks a lot for this. I have the A7V. Most of his recommendations are my settings but I learned some good stuff in this video. For model shoots (and I only have one model at a time) the only focusing challenge I had in the past is changing orientation (from portrait to landscape or vice versa) particularly with a wide angle lens. In my last shoot, I made sure that I tap (I have touched AF enabled) the face of the subject as soon as I change my orientation. It worked but still I think Magic's recommendations such maybe using the joystick than taping the screen will be beneficial to helping that focus stick.

If I decide to shoot some indoor volleyball, I will watch this video again.

Much appreciated.
