These Killdeer chose the intersection of two very busy trails to build there nest at the Marine Nature Study Area in Oceanside, NY. They probably chose the location as it's one of the highest locations in the preserve which is prone to flooding just like the rest of Long Island's shore line. It was interesting to see them trade roles incubating the eggs. I'm hoping I get to see the chicks.
