I've struggled to come home with bison photos I really like but my on my last trip to the preserve I got a few that I like. Some here are very similar and I would love to hear which ones people prefer of them Thanks.

I've never had an opportunity to photograph Bison but I imagine that's a pretty tough subject. My preference is the second but the comp looks a bit tight to my eyes. A little more room on the top and right side and it wouldn't look so boxed in. Just one persons opinion.

Thanks, I agree that one is a bit tighter than I'd have preferred too.
We rarely get snow here but I think if I can get out there the next time it does that could be pretty amazing.

I agree with Gary regarding the composition. Too many are centered. I've photographed bison many times and I'm concerned with how close you are as you are inside their comfort zone and they can move quite fast for short distances. You had plenty more reach available on that long zoom.

Well, on the safety side. Many of these I took while sitting in my truck on the road and I wouldn't have minded if they were further from the road either But, many times they were quite close.

I've done the same and I'm not going to tell them where to walk. I've been on foot and had to put a car between me and them. I've also been on a trail and had to get off it as one was coming up the trail. it sounds like you were aware and safe.

I like the next to the last photograph; with the birds flying by. I think the birds add some more visual interest to an already interesting subject. I have a few bison images and I always thought they worked well in black & white, especially in difficult lighting.
You did a great job and presented a very nice set of images.

Thanks I think 8 and 9 are my favs but I can't decide if I like more birds or just a few birds!
I should try converting images to b&w more, I never really do that. If I did I'd maybe start to get a better idea on what types of things look good without color.

I like #9 with all the birds in the image. I was going to suggest converting to Sepia or Coffee...I've seen some great Bison images processed with an 'old time' look to them.
