Thanks, Stan
Doesn't C1 and others get some sample images up front to start developing software with?
When I got my A7C2 at launch (in Japan) in 2023 I remember it took a couple of months for C1 support to arrive and it was a bit frustrating (had to do some EXIF manipulation in the meanwhile to make RAW files appear as of shot on A7IV). It looks like A7V (the most recent example) also took about 2 months from launch... Even if day 1 doesn't happen it would be nice if the gap was minimal. I'm not looking to buy A7RVI but will probably get A7C3 whenever that comes out.
I have already given up on using C1 for processing a7rvi raws for half a year. Even when support does roll out, the first iteration always has some funky processing. Pretty much the only reason why I still have a lightroom subscription in addition to their AI denoise tbh.

I do not understand what you mean by processing a7rvi raws for half a year - the camera has been released just a few weeks ago??
C1 just got an "enhanced denoise". That might be what you need. I have not tested the new denoising but I know many have waited that improvement. Personally, A7rV as my main camera, I do consider noise a very small issue in my photography. I rarely shoot above ISO6400, and with lower ISO the most natural way to deal with noise is reducing image size for viewing.
What I think C1 needs, is better tools for cloning, but that is another topic.
C0 is for sale, they raise prices 6% in the hope we stay a little longer and make it more attractive for the new owner...
So they are not doing well I suppose.
Will we ever see the A7V and A7RVI, or do they lack the money to implement?
Usually I just modify the raw files by changing the camera name in the file until such time as the software packages I use do support the new model. This seems to work fine with PL but may not work with C1.
If anyone wants to try opening an A7R6 RAW file modified in this manner in C1 here is a link to one that I have modified - just bear in mind it will appear to be an A7R5 file. If it does work I am sure it will probably work for the A7v files as well.
Somewhere I have a macOS application that will batch modify a whole folder of RAW files in this manner if anyone is interested - let me know and I can find the link to it. The app will copy the files to a sub folder and modify only the copied files so you still have the originals for when the software does eventually support the new model.
Here are the links to programs for automatic conversion - use at your own risk. Note that model names being modified must be IDENTICAL in length or the resulting file will be corrupt.

What I mean is after new camera release it usually takes C1 half a year after release to have stable support for the uncompressed raw files. I have seen the new enhanced denoise and have to say it is a major step up closing the gap to DxO or LR but still produces a processed look that gets rid of finer detail for my use case (bird photography).

Thanks, they have now replied:
“ We have received our own Sony A7RVI, we are currently working on support for Losless Compressed RAW files.”

There you go - software vendors don't have much excuse for not supporting these new models.
In theory yes.
In practical use, when there is a new sensor used, they need to have the body in hand to make their own thing, to come up with proper ICC profiles (and linear profile) and other "internal settings" tweaks.
However where Phaseone can be kind of blamed, is the time they take to come up with official support (As Sony is not really a niche market share)

I tested C1 denoise with an underexposed old portrait taken with A9 @ISO6400. Previously I considered the photo unusable but now it was ok.
As I live very north, I have plenty of very high ISO bird photos taken in winter darkness. I must test how denoise works in that type of photography... However, as I wrote, I am one of those photographers who are not very noise sensitive. Little bit of grain looks good to my eye if colors are pleasant and details are there. If the photo is properly exposed, careful sharpening and scaling down to viewing size takes care of the noise at least up to ISO3200 with A7rV.
I use Capture one, I have the permanent license version. Only update it if I purchase a camera not supported by my current version. I’m not sure how critical the icc customization is for each sensor. I’ve always been happy with the color in Capture one. I’m guessing the Bayer filter colors are stable enough across sensors that the ICC colors are interchangeable across sensors. It would certainly be possible for them to write the program so it opens future models, but I can see why they don’t for business reasons.
I did sign the request to support the new camera. I’m not surprised this isn’t available day 1. One thing they might not have considered is the pricing model discourages me from updating unit ai absolutely need to because for the most part I am always served better by waiting.
"Sony A7R VI Support is ready
Support for the Sony A7R VI is now available in Capture One.
Important to know:
Currently, only Lossless Compressed RAW files are supported, and wired tethering only is available. If you experience issues, ensure your camera is set to Lossless Compressed RAW before shooting, as it is not the default setting."
