We see Glossy ibis at the Marine Nature Study Area in Oceanside, NY every summer yet this year there have been about a dozen visiting the preserve. I visited the other day with the intent to capture there beauty. When I arrived I realized there was a huge amount of heat shimmy yet I kept trying. For this set they were farther than I would have liked yet there was very little water between them and and this kept the heat shimmy to a manageable level allowing me to use my 1.4x TC and also crop from about 1/2 the vertical height of the images.
Comments and suggestions welcome,
Morris

These turned out great Morris! The iridescent feathers on their wings are absolutely mesmerizing. It's a blessing to be able to see such a bird near you. Don't think we got any Ibises in the pnw other than the occasional white-faced ibis.

Thank you John,
I do as well and have a lot of bad luck photographing them

Thank you Sam,
The White-faced Ibis looks a lot like the Glossy. I've never seen a White-Faced in person
