Of all the lenses in my collection, the Voigtländer Ultron 35mm F1.7 no doubt produces some of the best Sun Stars. I have been using the Ultron with all my Sony mirrorless cameras starting with the NEX 5N, A6000, A6600 and ILSE 7R5.
A couple of examples are posted.
For me it depends on the scene and the quality of the sun stars. But in general yes. Not so keen on the odd shaped 9 and 11-bladed apertures that produce too many rays like 18 and 22 but prefer more like 10 bladed apertures. My favorite sun stars are from Voigtlander and Zeiss Loxia lenses.

I was under the impression that only applied to your Nifty Fifties.
No, I really find that to be kitsch in its purest form. Of course, that's just my personal opinion. But since you asked... 😃🥂
Not a fan of sun stars. They typically take over the scene so the image is all about the star…not what’s around the star. I put it into the gimmick category.
I understand what you mean, Chez. Personally I like the discrete version like a little star on the bumper of this Ford Thunderbird. In my view it does not take away from the subject of the photo. Maybe it enhances it?
Sunstars is a kind of aberation of the machinery from lenses plus diafragma blades I think, in any way it's not what I normally see with my eyes.
I think it's overrated, like bokeh.
Sometimes it may work, but most of the time it takes all the attention away.
In the fifties it was used a lot in advertising drawings, so when nifty fifty says kitsch I see a white tooth smile with a big sunstar for a toothpaste advertise drawing.
I've seen better images!
Not that my question was meant to create a polling about sun stars. But this little question resulted in 4 in favour and 3 nah, not so much.
As I commented, I like the discrete stars, maybe like these along a snowy wet street at Christmas time.
