p.1 #1 · Why won't lenses try to focus or body drive the lens to attempt to focus?
OK I have had Sony mirrorless bodies for quite a while now, I came from non-mirrorless Canon bodies to Sony.
I remember Canon bodies would try to focus by racking from near to far if the image was OOF to start with, ie switching from 50ft subject to a 15 ft subject.
On my Sony bodies I have had Sigma, Tamron and Sony long 200-600 and 400-800 zooms and they simply when OOF will not budge at times to try to obtain focus?? Multiple pumps of button for focus to start does nothing, the little bird in front of me remains OOF then off it goes, grrrrrr!!
Am I the only one, am I overlooking something other than having to revert to DMF (dynamic manual focus)? Why does the camera not force the lens to drive focus to obtain focus?? My only gripe
p.1 #3 · Why won't lenses try to focus or body drive the lens to attempt to focus?
I've sporadically had that problem with earlier Sony bodies, but never have had the problem, that I can remember, with my A1 II with Sony 200-600mm and GM 300mm f2.8 (with converters).
Which Sony body and Focus Mode are you using? For action/wildlife, I have my best luck with Zone Focus and "Responsive" settings.
