I was a kid in the 1950s and Glen Echo was the closest thing to Disneyland in the Washington D.C. Famous for its carousel, it also sported a great bumper car run, roller coasters, a swimming pool, the Cuddle Up - a spinning cup ride for couples - various spots for treats and even a dance hall. The carousel still exists. Structures remain as a memento of what was once glorious, yet Glen Echo lives on, an arts oriented community center with galleries, workshops, performances and more.
I like to go to the park early in the morning before visitors arrive.
