p.7 #1 · Voigtlander 75mm f/2.8 APO-Skopar Review

I have the Mark I version, and in my opinion it looks far more professional. The mounting handle on the Type II, while necessary for its design, is noticeably narrower and has an odd hump with a protruding tab. On top of that, the two-tone silver-and-black finish, along with the sleeve that doesn't appear to be perfectly flush from the factory, makes it look less refined. Not to mention the overall silver-and-black color scheme, which I personally don't find as elegant.

The one shown on your picture is a Voigtländer non-helicoid adapter version I (discontinued since 2014). There are also 2 versions of this adapter, with this first one made before there were full frame Sony Alpha mirrorless cameras, and these cause some vignetting on FF since they don't have large enough opening for FF. Version II of this regular adapter was optimized for FF.

Are you talking about this non-helicoid adapter I or is it a wrong image?

V2 of this non-helicoid adapter is still in production:

Very strange, because I bought it as new in 2020 together with my A7R II, and I have used it with more than a dozen Voigtländer lenses.

You are right, I overlooked the “II” mark in the photo. I just checked my Amazon order, and it is listed correctly there.

I confused it with the Close Focus version. My apologies. The color rendition is also what made me think it was the same version.

I think this non-helicoid version II is a solid adapter too but the key selling point of the original CV helicoid adapter was the helicoid extension (when it came out there were not so many helicoid adapters in the market). Version II of the CV helicoid adapter is a lot better than the Version I helicoid adapter, i.e. 50g lighter and still very solidly built etc. I have both versions of the helicoid adapter and V1 of the non-helicoid adapter which I originally got for my NEX-6 in 2013. All are very good but having the helicoid available is a very useful feature with many rangefinder lenses that don't focus very close otherwise.
