Have noticed that this lens is constantly changing aperture as I move the camera. The camera body aperture value remains constant (in manual mode) but the aperture blades in the lens move to provide different apertures with rotation of th body and lens. There is thus the constant noise of the aperure blade movement. The photos are correctly exposed so it must revert to the setting on the body at the instant the photo is taken.
Has anyone else observed this feature?
Other than M (manual), it is the aperture-priority mode (A) that should be used for keeping the aperture under photographer's control.
In the P and S modes, the aperture is controlled by the camera and it can change if the camera "thinks" this is needed.

Pretty much all lenses revert to the largest aperture between shots -- to maximize focus accuracy and speed. The aperture blades close down to the set aperture only when you fully depress the shutter button, or press the DOF Preview Button.
I'm not sure about the camera rotation issue.
