There are no Sea Otters on the SE coast of Vancouver Island. The otters seen in the ocean in this area are River Otters that spend a lot of their time in the ocean catching fish and crustaceans, which they also hunt in fresh water.

This mother Otter is keeping an eye on 3 of her 5 pups that she is teaching how to hunt.
