I saw the images from this editorial and assumed it was AI, at first:

But a few days later a post detailing the team was released, and today I discovered this post with the BTS:

I love how you can see that they're using a V flat ontop of a Pelican, and then go back to the original editorial and yup... it's there

Interesting to see that it's all continuous lights, guessing they were doing motion as well as stills. Looks great, but wonder why they used just a bunch of lanterns for modifiers. Guessing that's just what they had

Check out the lighting tech's page - I think they had any mod they wanted, she just likes working with lanterns.

I think I can see why looking at the final results. It seems like they wanted a lot of lighting bouncing around the room, and just used negative fill to control contrast. Looks great, love using a 12x12
