p.1 #1 · Is there a FE mount lens at f/1.8 with aperture ring for Sony?
I’m looking to find a prime lens at either 35mm, 40mm or 50/55mm that is an f/1.8 or f/1.7 WITH an aperture ring.
I have both the 35mm f/1.8 and 55mm f/1.8 but neither have an aperture ring and I have the 40mm and 50mm small G primes at f/2.5 that do have aperture rings but are slower than I would like. I know Sigma has an I-series 35, 50, ad 65mm lenses at f/2 with aperture rings. Of course there are the great f/1.4 GM primes at 35mm and 50mm but they are bigger and heavier than I’m looking for. Does anyone know of one that some one makes? I heard rumors of a Viltrox 35mm EVO but I don’t know anything about its features. I know their 85mm f/2 EVO does have an aperture ring so I have some hope that if the produce an other EVO lenses they may also have this feature.
I suspect Sony want to keep selling the lenses they have and have no plans for a G update but who really knows.
Well if you desire such a lens like me and know of one please share any info you may have. Thank you.

There are a few:
7Artisans 35/1.8
Meike 35/1.8 Pro
Brightin Star 35/1.8
Viltrox 50/1.8
7Artisans 50/1.8
Meike 55/1.8 Pro
Also some manual focus and aps-c lenses.
You already have two really good lenses, so I'm not sure it's worth switching just to get an aperture ring. Of course, Sony should be making G updates for 28, 35 and 50mm, just like their brilliant 20/1.8 G.

Thank you. For APS-C I’m shooting Fuji so I’m covered there with an aperture ring. Any of the ones in your list that you might have used and recommend over the others?

I haven't used any of the lenses on that list. They are all inexpensive, so probably not better, and possibly worse, than the 35mm and 55mm lenses you already have.
I have used the similar Viltrox 28/1.8, which is very good and has an aperture ring, but the aperture ring is de-clicked only. I don't understand why they didn't give the aperture a click option. It seems Viltrox was thinking that lens would be for videographers, not for still photographers.

I'm with you! I just switched from Fuji to Sony (after 15 years, I owned an original x100) and setting aperture on the lens is a requirement for me. With fuji I had a 33/1.4 an 18/1.4, a 14/2.8 and a 56/1.2 so I was kind of spoiled with high quality fast glass. I ended up with the Sony G 50/2.5 and the 24/2.8 and supplemented it with a sigma 35/2.0 (so I would have a slightly faster option) and a sigma 90/2.8. I feel like I have a pretty good assortment of decent primes but I'd love to upgrade the 50 to something faster and brighter without the weight penalty of a 1.4 since that accounts for probably 75% of my shooting. I'm okay for now but I'd love to see my dream fifty show up
