My friend has an A9. Was using it in studio, when suddenly out of the blue the screen stopped working completely. EVF works fine. LCD doesn't exhibit any flickering or anything showing something is potentially wrong. Just went completely black.
Google and AI leads us to replacing the the ribbon cable first. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and what their cause was.
I had the same problem with my A9ii a couple years ago. Authorized Photo Services in Morton Grove, Il replaced the ribbon cable and screen assembly. Total cost was around $650 if I remember correctly. It's possible Encompass might have the ribbon cable for sale on their site.

I have replaced the LCD on my son’s A6500 twice (he is quite rough on cameras…). It’s fairly easy to swap the LCD, but the ribbon cable is much more involved, requiring you to open the body and perhaps dig into it a fair amount.
Unless there is visible damage to the ribbon cable, it is difficult to diagnose where the actual problem lies. If you go the DIY route, I would try swapping the LCD first since it is easier, only moving on to the cable if necessary.
Either way, you can probably find parts on eBay, but they may not be genuine. Encompass parts are the real deal, but you’ll pay significantly more…
