This guy was showing off in the neighbor's Pecan tree a couple days ago -- a sure sign of Springtime in Texas.

Thank you, Birdie. There wasn't much color to begin with, so I thought B&W would work well.

Thanks Morris.
They are pretty gray looking birds, but it might be the lack of color in his eye that is getting your attention. To be honest, the original color file had a tiny bit of purple fringing on those back branches, and there wasn't all that much color in the image, so I opted for a B&W conversion.

In North Carolina, they seem to be here year-round. In Texas are they just a spring visitor?

I might get into trouble for saying this... they are "annoying". Because they screw up my sleep in the middle of night at around 2 AM. And they are Mississippi's state bird... you can imagine how many are there around
