p.1 #1 · Red-tailed hawk run out of town by Blue jays
I was at Kissena Park when this young Red-tailed hawk flew into the trees at the edge of the lake. Shortly after it landed two pairs of Blue Jays began dive bombing it. The hawk flew to another tree and the attacks on the hawk continued. One of the Blue jays even pecked it's back. Then a Red-bellied woodpecker joined in and the hawk blasted off and then did a loop before it headed out of the park.
Comments and suggestions welcome,
Morris

Nice catch Morris.
A more common occurrence around here is the Jay's chasing crows from proximity to their nests, but its fun to see them take on a big hawk. The rbwp is a surprise, and a new one to me, I haven't seen them join the fray before, sounds like quite the mele!

Thank you Eric,
The action went on for a long time and in trees with lots of branches so I was constantly moving to try and get a clean view. I'm happy to have been able to capture some of it.

Thank you Roberta,
I see a lot of bids defending there territory yet the Red-winged Black birds seem to enjoy being aggressive with large birds. I have a photo of a RWBB plucking a feather from a Great Egret's back and also one of a RWBB riding an eagle's back while it flies.
