Last year, I enjoyed a four-day trip to Stockholm and was completely captivated by the city. I spent much of my time wandering through the historic streets of Gamla Stan and touring its beautiful churches. Below, I’m sharing a few photos of the German Church, locally known as S:ta Gertrud or Tyska kyrkan.
Information about this church:
Located in the heart of Gamla Stan, the German Church (Tyska kyrkan) stands as a magnificent monument to the influence of German Hanseatic merchants who shaped Stockholm’s history. Originally the site of the 14th-century St. Gertrude’s Guild, the current building was completed in 1642 and is renowned for its 96-meter copper spire, which remains the tallest point in the Old Town. Inside, the church is a masterpiece of North German Baroque architecture, featuring a stunning ebony and alabaster altar, a lavishly carved "King’s Gallery" by Nicodemus Tessin the Elder, and soaring white-vaulted ceilings. Whether you are admiring its Neo-Gothic gargoyles from the street or the intricate woodwork within, S:ta Gertrud offers a beautiful glimpse into the multicultural heritage of 17th-century Sweden.
It was rather difficult to photograph interior due to how compact it was in there.

Beautiful church and love your attention to detail and perspective correction on the first 3! I am a stickler for this in my work and can really appreciate those who take time get it or do it in post. Also, I completely understand space restriction on the last image.

Thanks Chad, appreciate your kind words. I am a stickler just like you about perspective especially, when I am photographing architecture and places of worship. I think this German church was absolutely stunning but its always hard to photograph interior without tripod, light thru stained glass and dimly lit alter. These were all hand held and took quite a bit of work to get it right. I was able to work on couple other images and will add to the current post.

Thank you, it was difficult to capture images in that church but glad I shot like crazy Was able to salvage few that I shared and few more that I will add to this set. Glad you enjoyed viewing this set.
