I am back home after a very productive tour in Northern Peru.
We had a few bird targets, including one of Peru's most critically endangered monkeys, the San Martín Titi, which we had a good chance to see and photograph carrying a baby!
I hope you enjoy the following pictures, and thank you so much in advance for your kind comments and suggestions for improvement! JCV
PD, all images taken with Sony a1 and 600f/4.
Chestnut-breasted Coronet.
Golden-headed Manakin.
The near-endemic Royal Sunangel and cavendish flower.
Peruvian Racket-tail in a crazy pose!
The Peru endemic, Marvelous Spatuletail. This one will take your breath away!
A rather drab bird but one you will rarely see, Cinereous Tinamou.
Illiger's Saddle-backed Tamarin, one of the cutest monkeys in South America!
The super shy Rufous-sided Crake.
Wire-crested Thorntail visiting one of its favorite flowers, the porterweed.
The San Martin Titi, which very sadly has lost 80% of its population in the last 25 years, will likely become extinct.
The more common yet beautiful White-bellied Hummingbird visiting an unknown flower (at least to me!)
Common Potoo. Very hard to find during the daytime unless you are very lucky. We found this as we heard it calling.
